Senior Living Options in St. George, Utah

Ovation Club Members: Ellen and Don Tadken

“We explored every independent and assisted living facility in the area,” Ellen said. “The Ovation experience appears to be the most enticing available in the area by far.”

To say the Tadken family likes the St. George area would be an understatement. They love living here. When Ovation Sienna Hills was announced, Ellen and Don quickly made their reservations. They were among the first to become Ovation Club members.

“We explored every independent and assisted living facility in the area,” Ellen said. “The Ovation experience appears to be the most enticing available in the area by far. It seems the most interesting and energetic that we could hope for. There is a special feeling that is unique over other choices we investigated. It is not a sit-around-in-your-rocking-chair sort of place.”

For this world-traveling eager-to-go couple, Ovation was an ideal choice. They explained that there are quite a few commuter flights to Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas, L.A., and San Francisco with more carriers and flights to come. Plus, these cities offer direct flights to many overseas destinations, making it easy for family to visit.

What do the Tadkens enjoy most about the St. George area? For them, it’s the hiking, breathtaking views, community theater, music, sports teams, and senior learning center at Dixie State University. Plus, there’s plenty of climbing, camping, fishing, and so much more. In addition, Ovation is a good neighbor and supports many community activities.

Ellen and Don have lived for 25 years in Kayenta, a pristine desert community in the nearby town of Ivins. They are happy to be staying in the area and will continue to enjoy their many friends, and nearby shopping.

In their working years, Ellen was a school teacher in the New York metro area. Don spent his time as an airline pilot after flying in the Air Force. He particularly enjoys the low key atmosphere here.

Today, Ellen leads water aerobics three times a week. During the warm season, she enjoys theater, concerts, hiking, playing bridge, breakfast with the girls, and being active in AAUW (association of university women). Don enjoys many of the same activities, but also appreciates “puttering” around, as he puts it.

“Everyone knows Ellen, but I have to introduce myself as Mr. Ellen Tadken,” Don said with a laugh.

They look forward to Living in Ovation Sienna Hills for this step in their lives, and let someone else take care of the honey-do items.
